1. Choose a faction
AION 2 has two playable factions: the Elyos (Light) and the Asmodians (Dark). Both factions can play every class, so the choice is mostly about story, visuals and who you want to fight alongside. Pick whichever appeals to you — you will be fighting the opposite side throughout the faction war.
2. Pick your starter class
There are 8 classes at global launch: Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter. For a smooth first run we recommend the Gladiator (durable, simple combos) or the Ranger (fight safely from range). You are never locked in — each class uses one main weapon, so your choice defines your role.
3. Learn to fly
As a Daeva, flight is not a travel mechanic — it is how you fight, explore and control space. Gain altitude to gain advantage, practice dodging in three dimensions and remember that verticality is the core of AION 2. Spend time in the early areas until moving and fighting in the air feels natural.
4. Level up fast
The fastest early progression is chained dungeon clears with a party. Group content rewards more XP per minute than soloing, so join a duo or group whenever possible. Pick up daily and story quests before you leave town — quest XP stacks on top of normal kill XP.
5. Gear smart early
- Equip upgrades as you find them — early gear is replaced quickly.
- Prioritise the stats your class scales with (HP for tanks, attack for DPS, healing for supports).
- Salvage or vendor gear you have outgrown to keep your inventory clean.
6. Common new-player mistakes
- Sticking to one strategy — learn to swap targets and reposition in the air.
- Ignoring quests — they unlock waypoints and progression you will revisit.
- Skipping buffs and food — early buffs are a meaningful power boost.
- Fighting the other faction carelessly — in open-world zones, the enemy faction is always a threat.
